Medguard Expands Warehouse Capacity to Power Growth and Strengthen Customer-First Service Model

Medguard prides itself on being a genuinely customer-first business, something that goes far beyond a slogan and sits at the core of how the organisation operates day to day. Every decision, from stock management to logistics planning and delivery performance, is shaped by a simple principle: ensuring customers receive the right product, at the right time, in the most efficient way possible.

That commitment was clearly demonstrated last weekend as Medguard successfully completed a major expansion of its existing warehouse facility. With the business and its teams deeply rooted in the Ashbourne community, remaining in the area was an important part of the company’s long-term vision. The decision to expand the current site, rather than relocate operations elsewhere, ensures Medguard can continue supporting local employment, maintaining established community connections, and enabling teams who live and commute locally to remain part of a business that has become firmly embedded within the Ashbourne area. By extending and enhancing its existing warehouse footprint, Medguard is now better positioned to support continued growth and increasing customer demand while staying connected to the community that has supported its success over the years.

Expansion driven by sustained growth

Over the past number of years, Medguard has experienced consistent growth in both product range and order volume. This success, while positive, naturally led to increasing warehouse capacity, with space constraints becoming more apparent during day-to-day operations.

The decision to invest in additional warehouse space reflects a long-term strategy: scale infrastructure in line with demand while protecting service quality. By expanding its existing facility and continuing to invest in the Ashbourne area where so many of its teams live and work, Medguard is able to retain operational continuity while significantly increasing its storage and fulfilment capability, all while remaining closely connected to the community that has supported the business throughout its growth.

A coordinated team effort behind the expansion

The warehouse expansion was delivered through a highly coordinated, all-hands-on-deck effort over the weekend. Teams worked intensively to reorganise, transfer, and optimise stock placement across the newly extended space, ensuring systems were set up for maximum efficiency from day one.

Beyond the operational achievement, the project also created opportunities for cross-team collaboration. Teams worked alongside colleagues from different departments, gaining a deeper understanding of product flow and warehouse processes. The effort was widely seen internally as a strong example of the exceptional dedication that our teams have to both Medguard and our customers, with everyone contributing to a shared goal.

Improved facilities and working environment

Alongside the operational benefits, the expanded warehouse has also improved the working environment for teams. The site now includes two canteen areas, providing more space for breaks and helping to support wellbeing during busy periods.

Plans are also in place to add outdoor seating in the near future, further enhancing the space and offering teams the opportunity to take breaks outdoors when weather allows. In addition, the former Dispatch office will be converted into a dedicated rest and breakout space, creating a more comfortable environment for teams to recharge during busy working days. These additions reflect a broader focus on creating a functional, supportive, and sustainable workplace as the business continues to grow.

What the expansion means for customers

While the expansion was a significant internal undertaking, its purpose is ultimately customer-focused. The additional space brings clear long-term benefits that directly support service delivery, including:

  • Increased stock capacity, improving product availability
  • More efficient warehouse layout for faster picking and packing
  • Reduced risk of delays caused by space limitations
  • Greater space to support the continued growth and visibility of Medguard’s own brand and the Mediq Select range
  • Enhanced capacity to expand product lines and respond more effectively to evolving customer needs

In practical terms, this means Medguard can continue to fulfil orders accurately and efficiently, while maintaining strong delivery performance even as volumes grow.

Strengthening a customer-first model

The expansion reinforces Medguard’s operational model, where customer service is not an outcome but a driving input into every business decision. By investing in infrastructure ahead of demand, the company is positioning itself to maintain high service standards while continuing to grow sustainably.
With the expanded warehouse now fully operational, Medguard is well placed to build on its recent success, strengthening both its internal capabilities and the service experience it delivers to customers every day.
